I don’t think Holmes was singled out for prison because she’s a woman. Bankman-Fried hasn’t gone to prison yet, but he’s still relatively early in the legal process.

There is absolutely no excuse for what Holmes did. I read “Bad Blood,” watches the Hulu limited series, and read countless articles about her scam, and I think prison is the only appropriate remedy for her misdeeds.

What I really bristle at is her attempt to rely on chauvinism to rally support for her product and to excuse her bad behavior. It reminded me of Hillary Clinton’s “I’m with her!” campaign, as if we should be foolish enough to support or believe someone simply because they’re female. It’s just as foolish as supporting or believing someone simply because they’re black, or of a certain political allegiance.

People should be judged and held accountable based on their deeds — period. There are plenty of men who have done some time in prison for similar crimes. While I will be the first one to admit the System is generally unfair in general and to women, in particular, that definitely wasn’t the case here. She lied repeatedly, bold faced and without shame, and even threatened innocent people to keep the lies going.
