I wholeheartedly agree that the ubiquitous celebration of humans with exponential wealth is unhealthy and toxic for civilization.
What I have a problem with is the fact that Musk is singled out for this unhealthy and toxic behavior, while other billionaires are not.
Bezos and Gates are celebrated as “philanthropists” and guardians of social change, climate protection, and public health. Yet Bezos has one of the worst track records as an employer (read NOMADLAND for a taste of what this man has done to the working class), and African nations have no love for Gates and his attempts to vaccinate their population (he’s viewed by many African leaders as a ruthless racist who’s traded health for profits).
Yet neither of these men is seen as “far right.
My point is that capitalism — and its rawest form, greed — has no political stripe. The way we perceive these men of exponential wealth is merely dependent on their branding.
