No, they weren’t arguing in favor of eugenics or Nazis, but those are hardly the only (and certainly not the most hotly-contested) issues being debated today.
My parents were very concerned about government overreach and corporate control of the media, issues that few were discussing in the 1970s and to which I paid little attention. But now they have become much more relevant in our discourse, and a disturbing number of my friends and colleagues are completely disinterested in these topics and even excuse the gross and obvious corporate consolidation of media.
