Thank you for sharing a thoughtful, poignant, and very honest assessment of the tourism crisis we face now. I think many of us who traveled decades ago can relate to the alarming changes in the environment and landscape of places we have fond memories of.
We obviously can’t rely on governments or business to implement measures to contain or curtail tourism and commercial growth in a way that ensures they aren’t destructive to the natural environment. The desire for profit is too strong. As you point out, it’s up to us to make responsible decisions going forward and choose to travel more sustainably — or maybe not at all.
