Thanks, as always, Tim. It means a lot to me to hear your observations of the same phenomenon from the perspective of a white male.

I posted this piece on Facebook yesterday and (predictably) received a comment from a white male exec at a Hollywood production company who said he was “sorry to see [me] leave the tribe and go to the dark side.”

I doubt he even read my essay beyond the first few paragraphs. The irony that he was demonstrating the very behavior I was highlighting was completely lost on him.
