Thanks for sharing your thoughts, James. I like the idea of using Signal and Parler as alternatives to Facebook and Twitter (which is just as draconian when it comes to censorship). Unfortunately, most of my friends still cling to Facebook as though it’s a social lifeline. The platform is so darn huge now that it’s sucked in all the late-adopters and everyone else who’s too technology-challenged to seek out alternatives. If I mention Signal or Parler to them, I’ll just get blank stares. Most people prefer to stick to what they already know, what’s easiest, what everyone else uses, etc., especially when it comes to platforms that are shrewdly insinuating themselves into other parts of our lives. I can only imagine the lock that Facebook will have on the global population if it is able to launch Libra coin. The cattle will be branded and ready for slaughter.
