Thanks for your thoughtful response. We shall agree to disagree on the vital signs of the Rule of Law. I studied constitutional law and have practiced for more than 30 years, so laws are something I closely observe. And from my perspective, we are now merely seeing a convincing illusion of a non-existent Rule of Law. Mind you, this wasn’t always the case; but it is now.
In fact, if the Rule of Law were still intact at the most basic level, our country would not be imploding at this speed. The looting occurring at the highest levels now is not merely economic; our laws are also being looted. SCOTUS, the FCC, the Fed, the DoJ, the Treasury, and other agencies have turned a blind eye to core constitutional and legislative principles. Without a core, nothing can survive.
As for Democrats: having been a liberal (I’m now an independent) for most of my life, I can honestly say that I no longer recognize the party. To call them do-nothing would give them too much credit. Like Republicans, they are simply the left wing of oligarchy; two wings, one bird, in the words of Gore Vidal, all working to impoverish and disenfranchise the masses. And as we look around, it seemed they’ve done a pretty good job of it
If you aren’t familiar with neoliberalism, I encourage you to familiarize yourself with the concept. Adolph Reed, Jr. (soulmate of Cornel West) has been eloquently calling out these smooth-talking, hypocritical, film-flam artists for quite some time now. I highly encourage you to give his latest piece a read and see if it resonates with you on any level:

As you are someone who obviously cares deeply about this country and the future of its people, I think you’ll find Reed’s take on the net effect of modern Democratic policymaking on the least fortunate among us.
Truly, it’s high-time that we stop settling for the lesser of two evils.
Anyway, thanks for engaging, Chris. I’ve really enjoyed our exchange!
