We desperately need to reach a point where a person can be legitimately critiqued without having it explained away as sexism or misogyny. It serves no one. What speaks volumes is that when running for president, Harris wasn’t heavily favored by black or female voters. Let’s face it: voters just aren’t that into her.
Simply being a person of color, female, and articulate doesn’t make you a superstar, just as being a gay, white male Rhodes scholar doesn’t make you a superstar. Superstars have an “it” factor that transcends sex and race, and neither Harris not Buttigieg have “it.”
